About the TechniqueThese works are monoprints which are one-of-a-kind prints. The images displayed here were made by painting watercolour onto a plastic surface and then printing the results on paper using the large la Manivelle printing press.

This method results in wonderful, unique textures that are unlike those in a direct watercolour painting.

Take a close look at the water and bubble markings. You won’t see that in any other kind of painting (except perhaps a direct watercolour painting on Yupo plastic ‘paper’). The monoprints can have a wet-in-wet look and still retain white paper.
